Emma S. Bauer, 90, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2017 at Meadowood Senior Living in Worcester, PA.
Born in Norristown, PA on July 4, 1926, Emma was the daughter of the late L. Paul Scheidt and Emma Roberts Scheidt. She attended The Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, PA, Pine Manor Junior College, Wellesley, MA, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1946. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Emma married David M. Bauer, Jr. on December 11, 1948. Emma and Dave were married for 61 years before his death in 2009.
She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the building committee for the current church in Fairview Village, PA.
In the 1950’s and 60’s she was a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She volunteered at Montgomery Hospital for 50 years and served on the Hospital Board for 25 years, 10 of those as secretary. She was a member of the Norristown Garden Club and of the Militia Hill Questors. She continued to volunteer in her Meadowood Senior Living community.
Emma is survived by her son, David M. ‘Monty” Bauer, III (Jill) of Barrington, IL and her daughter, Nina S. Riggins (Randy) of Axton, VA; grandchildren Katherine Emma Tyler (Josh), David M. Bauer IV (Noelle), and Alexander W. Bauer (Molly); great-grandchildren Ella Tyler, Charlie Tyler and Bode Bauer.
A celebration of Emma’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 22nd at Meadowood Senior Living, 3205 Skippack Pike, Worcester, PA with a luncheon reception to follow.
