Obituary of Anna Mae Galbraith
Anna Mae Galbraith (née Greco), of Audubon, PA, died suddenly on June 11, 2022. She was born in Hazelton, PA to Joseph and Theresa Greco, and received an RN Diploma from the nursing school at Hazelton State Hospital in 1966. She moved to Philadelphia where she worked and studied at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a BS, MS, and CRNP in Nursing. She was a pioneer in her role as a Nurse Practitioner. She was employed at Phoenixville Hospital as Director of Community Health Education for over 25 years and taught Nursing at West Chester University for 15 years. She was a board member of the Phoenixville Healthcare Foundation as Chair of Governance Committee, and a board member of Phoenixville Health Care Access. Nursing was not just a profession, but a calling.
Anna Mae loved skiing, being in nature, travelling, cooking, and above all else her true joy was spending time with friends and family. She and her husband hosted many events throughout the years, from their annual Robert Burns Supper to spaghetti Bolognese night in Ocean City NJ. She delighted in having people gathered around the table together. Her son and son-in-law planted a garden for her each year and she loved to plan meals around the harvests. Anna Mae also loved the arts and was a part of the Art Goes to School program in her children’s school district. She and her husband brought many people to the Philadelphia Orchestra and her daughter will miss their trips to the Philadelphia Ballet.
She is survived by husband Larry Galbraith, daughter Sarah E. Galbraith, son Larry Galbraith (Brian), grandson Enzo Barkwell-Galbraith, granddaughter Antonia Barkwell-Galbraith, brothers Frank Greco (Carol) and Joseph Greco (Vicki), and sister Mary Louise Torpey (Michael). She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, great godchildren, and an extensive group of others.
Anna Mae’s funeral mass will be at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403 on August 13th at 11:00 AM. The immediate family will receive family and friends from 10-10:45am. Interment is private. A celebration of life will be held at the Valley Forge Fire Company, 630 Valley Park Rd. Phoenixville, PA 19460 on August 14th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.
