John Rodgers

Obituary of John Rodgers

John Rodgers, 78, of Royersford, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Barry) Rodgers, celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary on the day of his passing.

Born December 6, 1943, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John J. and Foresta (Cianfrogna) Rodgers, and brother of Joelle Jennings. He was predeceased by his sister, Andrea Rodgers.

John received an undergraduate degree from Saint Dunstan’s University in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where he met Shirley. He later received an MSCIS degree from University of Phoenix. Married in 1970, they lived in Blue Bell, where they had two children, John "Brian" Rodgers (wife Susan) of Doylestown, and Jennifer Lynne Rodgers (fiancé Jimmy Farrell) of Phoenixville. In Blue Bell, he was surrounded by a close group of friends who he loved vacationing with, hosting pool parties, and celebrating many holidays. The family also lived for several years in Sandy, Utah, where the children learned to love and appreciate the mountains, outdoors, and skiing. John was a lover of all sports, enjoyed puzzles and books, listening to music, singing Irish tunes, and visiting his sister, Joelle, in California, and his in-laws in Canada. He was happiest whenever spending time with his family and friends, especially as “Gpa” to his grandchildren, Jack, Andrew, Gabe, Evan, and Isla.

The family thanks all of the doctors and nurses who were so diligent and committed to his care, and all that supported the family along the journey. We know he touched many lives. His passionate spirit will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
