Obituary of Mary (D'Angelo) LaFranco

Mary (D’Angelo) LaFranco, 87, of Lower Salford Township, PA, formerly of Oldsmar, FL and Yonkers, NY, passed away early Sunday morning, December 12, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert J. LaFranco, in October of 2019.

 

Born February 16, 1934, in Bomba, Chieti, Italy, she immigrated as a young child with her mother to join her father in New York. The daughter of the late Giovanni and Concetta (Caniglia) D’Angelo, she was raised in Yonkers, NY and was a 1952 graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers, NY.

 

Mrs. LaFranco worked as an executive assistant with Pepsico (Monsieur Henri Wines) in Purchase, NY, Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and JRD Management Co. in Harrison, NY.  Mary was an avid reader and passed her love of reading onto her children and grandchildren.  Her hobbies included gardening and always received many compliments from friends and neighbors.  One of her passions was cooking. When she wasn’t watching cooking shows and coming up with ideas she was exploring new recipes and creating gourmet meals for her family.  Mary also enjoyed painting and was continuing take painting classes later in life. But her greatest joy was time spent with her family.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Christina Byrnes and her husband, Richard, of Shelton, CT, Lenora DeSanctis and her husband, Joseph, of Ossining, NY, and Lisa LaFranco Scheuch and her husband, Brad, of Lower Salford Township, PA; a son, Robert F. LaFranco of Brooklyn, NY; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Joseph, Marc, Charlie and Nicholas. She is also survived by a brother, Nicholas D’Angelo and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mount Vernon, NY,  a sister-in-law, Rosemarie Delbene (Guido) of West Linn, OR, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. 

 

Services will be private with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers, NY. Arrangements are by R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. of Skippack, PA. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.RLWilliamsFuneralHome.com.
