Your family was in my thoughts throughout Thanksgiving weekend and will continue to be into the new year and beyond. Although I did not know Sean well, he was my daughter's principal at Lower Merion. We also were at O'Hara at the same time, although I am two years older and we did not cross paths. Mr. Hughes exuded the humility and grace that are quintessentially "Catholic Delco." It wasn't a perfect upbringing by any means, but it does teach you that the world owes you nothing, and that you owe something back to the world. Mr. Hughes brought that value to the students of Lower Merion, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Please know that your suffering is not forgotten even as the world seems to move on. All the best to the Hughes family.

For me, Sean was like a much cooler cousin or sibling who takes you under his wing and imparts wisdom on everything from boyfriends to running tips—like eating a pb&j sandwich before a run, the jelly for quick energy, the peanut butter for endurance. Just last month I told my teenage daughter, now a runner and rower herself, about the pb&j tip. Sean and I may have lost touch after college, but he is still looking out for me, and now my daughter.

My heart goes out to you. I am a parent of a junior, Corben Morrison, at LMHS. I remember coming to LMHS on the open house as an anxious parent of a freshman... and I remember feeling reassured being greeted by Mr. Hughes and listening to him speak. I so appreciate his message of "character counts"--- that message will be his legacy- We also appreciate how he wanted to make sure that students had a balanced life, not too overly scheduled. Know that there is another LMHS family here who will forever be impacted in a positive way by Mr. Hughes' leadership and caring. I hope that the outpouring of love and support can help your family heal.

I have been so very saddened to learn of Sean's death, as well as his father's —so inexplicably within hours of each other, and am praying for Kristi and the children, and Eileen, Sean's mother, and of course, the entire Hughes family. So much the sadder that this has happened just before the holidays... Please know, dear Hugheses, you have been added to several prayer lists, including in Lourdes, France. God bless and keep you all in peace, Bernadette McBride (Monica Shane's mother)

Our hearts are aching for you. We don't have words to describe enough sympathy and our sincere condolences in the painful time. Mr. Hughes was Cecilia Pagana (2020 LMHS graduate) and Philip Pagana (11th grade) Principal.
He was always kind and humble, friendly and supportive. Both kids feel that he went out of his way to provide a safe environment to learn in, despite the world that we live in. It takes an incredible person to run a school like LMHS.
He will be missed! May God hold you, carry you and cover you in His arms with love and strength. May His Light shine upon all of you.
John, Chrisnie, Cecilia and Philip Pagana

Sean; I remember when you moved to James Dr. You and your Family pulled up in the drive way;and you got out of the car. I recognized you from ST. Dots' and we became instant friends. Your friendship over the years meant so much to me. I loved walking home with you in high school from the bus stop. I loved hanging out with you in your living room; and your mom would come in and hang out with us."Mrs Hughes that was my favorite Part". Your James drive family loves you and your father;and we will never forget you either one of you. Heaven just got two Beautiful Angels ! To: Kristi; Jack Nolan; Katie Mrs Hughes and the rest of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult Time .

Sean, my cousin, you talked me into going to LaSalle and we had great memoires. I always knew you were special but watching you turn into the man you are (through your dad and my mom gossiping) is breath taking. Impacting SO MANY LIVES. WOW! I have been praying for you and your dad to safely enter into heaven. You both certainly deserve it after your time on earth. May St. Patrick greet you himself with a good Irish beer and bad Irish joke. I love you Sean.

RIP Mr. Hughes! You were my 8th grade SS teacher way back in 92-93 at St. Joe's in Aston. I remember how much you connected with our class and how respected you were. From all the stories I've read it sounds like you your character has never changed. My condolences to your family and your LM family.
