Robert H. Phifer, 88, of Hatfield, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Sabol) Phifer.
Born February 15, 1933, in Norristown, he was the son of the late William and Blanche (Reustle) Phifer. Mr. Phifer proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
After his years in the service, Mr. Phifer graduated from the Lansdale School of Business, class of 1957. He was then employed with The Mccarter Corporation in Norristown where he worked in administrationforthefabricationandmanufacturingofasphalt mixing plants that were sold worldwide, and then chocolate mixing machinery sold to the Hershey's Chocolate Company.
Mr. Phifer was a member of the North Pennsmen Barbershop Chorus for over 35 years where he sang as a lead. He was also a member of the popular quartet "Bon-Voyage" and sang the lead part for many years. Mr. Phifer was an active member of the Central Schwenkfelder Church choir, enjoyed small game hunting, tennis, and racquetball, and was a member of local area racquetball clubs. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey S. Phifer and wife, Diane, of Hatfield, and Christopher R. Phifer and wife, Carolyn, of Lansdale; son-in-law, Eric Schmitz of Towamencin, and seven grandchildren: Kristin, Andrew, Tyler, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Amanda, and Ryan.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Schmitz; and his grandson, Stephen Schmitz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 3 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Central SchwenkfelderChurch, 2111 S. Valley Forge Rd.
