Obituary of Betty Smith

Betty (Wright) Smith, 90, of Woxall, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Phoebe Richland. She was the beloved wife of the late James “Snuffy” Smith Sr. They were married for 64 years.

 

Born November 18, 1930, in Spring Mill, PA, she was a daughter of the late Andrew C. Wright and Freda M. (Mumenthaler) Wright Keenan and her stepfather, Thomas Keenan. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Norristown High School class of 1948. After high school and before she and her husband started their family, Mrs. Smith worked for Tastykake bakery in Philadelphia.

 

Mrs. Smith was a long-time member of Tabor United Methodist Church,  where she served on many different committees.  She enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren, as well as sitting on her porch enjoying nature.   Throughout her life, Mrs. Smith devoted her time to her family and friends. 

 

She is survived by her children, Connie Connolly and her husband, Thomas, of Mechanicsburg, Bethanne Rittenhouse and her husband, James, of Perkiomenville, and James J. Smith, Jr, and his wife, Amy, of Harleysville; her siblings, James Keenan and Thomas Keenan; her grandchildren, Amanda Lubold, Thomas Connolly, Collin Smith, Evan Smith, Rhett Smith, Jacob Rittenhouse, James Rittenhouse and Andrew Rittenhouse; and eight great-grandchildren. 

 

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mildred Rakowski, Edith Yucalevich, Dorothy Desimone, Anderson Wright, Patrick Keenan, and Joseph Keenan.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Tabor United Methodist Church 2209 Hendricks Station Rd, Woxall, PA 18979, where friends may call for the viewing from 10-10:45 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Tabor United Methodist Church at the address above or to Phoebe Richland, 108 S Main St, Richlandtown, PA 18955.
