Obituary of Joanne B. Podulka

Joanne B. Podulka, 79, formerly of Worcester, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021, at Dock Terrace in Towamencin. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley F. Podulka, to whom she was married for over 52 years.

Born November 22, 1941, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John Marczak and Winifred (Kreibich).  Mrs. Podulka was a 1959 graduate of Little Flower High School in Philadelphia. She married in January of 1961.

In addition to homemaking and caring for her family, Joanne held many varied jobs throughout her career, primarily as a clerk in banking, and supporting the family business, Stray Automotive, in Colmar, as a bookkeeper.  Locally, Mrs. Podulka worked at the Merck Federal Credit Union in West Point for ten years, both as a teller and in customer service. Later in her career, she worked for Merck & Co., Inc. and retired from there. She was active in the community, volunteering with the Worcester Historical Society, the Norristown Garden Club, and Little Flower High School reunions for her class. Her hobbies included gardening and creating flower arrangements. She also enjoyed caring for dogs and cats as pets throughout her lifetime.  Musically, though Joanne listened to classical music the most, in her younger years she played the accordion as well as the trombone.  A caring and generous supporter of her family, Joanne cared for her daughter Dana during her fight with cancer.

She is survived by her son, Damon Podulka, and daughter-in-law, Sharon, of Harleysville; her sister Jill Lubow (Neal), her husband’s brother, Raymond Podulka, a partner in business & part of the immediate family, and her son-in-law, David Ryan.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Dana Ryan, and her brother Dennis Marczak.
