Janis Lee (Coleman) Cook, 93, of Normandy Farms Estates of Whitpain Township, PA, and formerly of Maple Glen, PA, passed away on March 1, 2021. She was the wife of the late Dwain F. Cook who passed away in 2002.
Born June 18, 1927, in Chicago, IL, she was the only child of the late Lee and Miriam (Hale) Coleman. She met her husband, Dwain at Knox College in Galesburg, IL after World War II and married in 1947. They were very active members of Old York Road Country Club where they played golf and had many lifelong friends. Janis played golf at Old York Road into her 80's and continued the family tradition of taking the entire family to the OYR Christmas brunch every year.
Surviving is a daughter, Cathy L. McKeever and her husband, James E. M. McKeever, Jr., of Worcester, PA; and a son, Robert S. Cook and his wife, Margaret J. Cook, of West Chester, PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lauren L. McDowell and her spouse Andrew, Katie L. Sillup and her spouse Patrick, Kristoffer R. Cook and his spouse Amanda and Kevin S. Cook and Breanna. She loved spending time with her five great grandchildren: Callan McDowell (13), Holden McDowell (10), Anderson McDowell (4), Isla Sillup (8) and Riley Cook (1).
At Normandy Farms Estates, she was an active member of the Questers, having a strong interest and knowledge of antiques. She was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed many dinners with her friends throughout Normandy. Affectionately, she was known as Mommom, Grammy, Great Mommom and Great Mommy. She cherished her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with Cathy and Bob and their families for birthdays, holiday gatherings, and Sunday dinners on the back porch.
Services and interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. Arrangements are by the R. L.
