Rita Depatie

Obituary of Rita Depatie

Rita (Martell) Depatie, 84, of Harleysville, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late James Milton Depatie.

Born November 25, 1936, in Pawtucket, RI, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Louise (Donahue) Martell.

Rita grew up in Pawtucket Rhode Island where she met her future husband, Milt. Little did either of them know that they would grow from young children playing together in their neighborhood to starting a new married life together. They made their home in Ambler, PA where they lovingly raised their daughters, Tori and Trish. Always setting the example of a beautiful love, Rita and Milt enjoyed life to the fullest with their family. As a young homemaker and mother, Rita worked in the food industry at various establishments such as the infamous Pike Restaurant and then onto Newport Food Services, and then Henning’s Market.

Rita had a zest for life, and it was obvious to anyone who knew her. Whether getting an ice cream cone or taking them to visit the beaches of Narragansett, Rita always made time for her grandchildren – the apples of her eye. As her family grew, Rita always embraced the partners of her children and grandchildren along with her son in law Bert, husband of Trish. She had a welcome smile and an exceptional sense of humor – just ask her friends and family.  Rita made her retirement home in the Harleysville area where she attended St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the local senior center where she enjoyed playing bingo and socializing with new and old friends. Rita also enjoyed traveling with her longtime friends throughout the United States.

She is survived by her daughters, Victoria Moquin of Mont Clare, PA and Patricia Roberto (John), of Lansdale; her sister Grace Peloquin of Pawtucket, RI; and her grandchildren, Amanda Moquin, Lindsay Moquin, and John Roberto.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Roland Martell Jr. and her sister Marylou (Durham) Martell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the Church of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring Mount Rd., Schwenksville, PA, 19473.
