Obituary of Kathleen A. Barndt

Kathleen A. (Grant) Barndt, 93, formerly of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania passed away Thursday, January 27, 2021, at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert David Barndt to whom she was married for over 66 years.

Born August 18, 1927, in Souderton, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Ratzell) Grant.  Kathleen (Kay) was a graduate of Souderton High School and spent many years as a bookkeeper at the family’s veterinary practice, Devon Animal Hospital.  She was a life-long member of the Newtown Square Presbyterian Church and was active in the local women’s club.  Kay enjoyed playing bridge and tennis and was a competitive mini golf player!  A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and children, relaxing at their beach house in Avalon, New Jersey with family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Kay also enjoyed hosting the many family gatherings over the years for holidays and special occasions such as birthdays.  Most recently, Kay took pleasure in the many social activities at her retirement community.  Not one to be idle, she could be found participating in the daily activities, which she enjoyed.  An avid sports fan, Kay regularly cheered on the Eagles and the Phillies and especially enjoyed watching the Olympic ice skaters.

She is survived by her children Robert M. Barndt and his wife Pam, of Surprise, Arizona, Joanne Barndt Savard Donchak and her husband John, of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and Scott E. Barndt (Pamela), Brandy Szever (Scott), Scott Barndt (Megan) and Eric Donchak; and her four great-grandchildren, Carrig Barndt, Chloe, Szever,  Wesley Szever, and Cora Barndt.
