Deirdre Pearson

Obituary of Deirdre Pearson

Deirdre “Dudy” (Frank) Pearson, 89, of Audubon, was called home to the Lord on Jan. 15, 2021.  As one of the brothers quipped, “The Lord better have something for her to do.” Born June 21, 1931, in Chambersburg, PA, to David and Elizabeth Feldman Frank, Dudy graduated from Chambersburg High School (1949) and East Stroudsburg State College (now University) in 1953.  On June 21, 1953, at the Zion Reformed Church in Chambersburg, Dudy married her college sweetheart, Henry Pearson, who survives.

Her energy and spirit seemed boundless and she touched everyone she met with her wonderful sense of humor that she combined with a caring spirit and a genuine joy for life. To know Dudy Pearson was to love her.

Growing up as the only girl in a family with five active brothers, Dudy was like a second mother to them and did a good bit of child-rearing as a young girl. Her brothers adored her, and she was a wonderful example and mentor for them. Throughout her life, she always took the initiative to keep the family united and close. Dudy also endeared herself to her many “in-laws”. Each new addition to the growing clan was welcomed with love and open arms. And each new addition became as charmed with Dudy as her brothers were.

Dudy seemed tireless, never too busy to take on another challenge. Her life was filled with a vast array of activities and people, whom she touched with love, laughter, joy, and genuine care. When in high school, she sang in the Glee Club and the church choir; she acted in school plays and was a drum majorette. After graduating from college, she taught school while raising a family and supporting her beloved husband, Hank. Retirement and an empty nest did not slow her down. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for years. She took up aquatics and loved cooking and baking for friends and family, skiing, and ice skating. One of her retirement loves was dancing, singing and acting at Shannondell. She was an active member at the United Church of Christ in Norristown, where she sang in the choir for many years and served several terms on the Church consistory. She and Hank were members there for over 65 years. Like any good nanny, she loved and doted on her grandchildren, Daniel Flore III, Kelsey and Sean Pearson, and Kaden and Macey Bauer, who loved and respected her in return.

Dudy was a devout Christian and she lived her life and related to others in a truly Christian manner. She loved her neighbor and she instilled the same strong values in her children, who loved, admired, and respected her deeply. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Debra (Daniel) Davidson of Cochranville, PA; Randall (Kathleen) Pearson of King of Prussia, PA; Scott Pearson of Royersford, PA; and Elizabeth (Jonathan) Bauer of Skippack, PA; along with five grandchildren. Her four brothers, George Trail, E. Shannon Trail, Charles Trail, and John Trail as well as numerous nieces and nephews feel privileged to have shared in Dudy’s full and beautiful life. In addition to her parents, Dudy was predeceased by her brother, David Frank, and her stepfather, George Arthur “Art” Trail.
