Obituary of Betty Ann Hurley

Betty Ann Hurley, 77, a resident of Harleysville, PA for almost 48 years, passed away at home on Saturday night, October 3, 2020, while surrounded by family and love. She and her husband, Joseph V. Hurley, Jr., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 25th of this year.


Born June 27, 1943, in West Chester, PA, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Sara (Stern) Cruickshank.


Mrs. Hurley was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lansdale, PA. She was a feisty lady with a great zest for life who loved to laugh! Her hobbies included needle point, crocheting, and coloring. Her greatest love and devotion was for her beloved family, but a close second and third were playing poker and visiting the casinos. She will fondly be remembered by her grandchildren as “Grandmom Teaser.”


In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight children, Deborah A. Funari and her husband, Joseph, of Telford, PA, Joseph V. Hurley, III and Jennifer Humphrey of Harleysville, PA, Mary D. Heckler and her husband Randy, of Green Lane, PA, Jean M. Johnson and her husband, Bryan Johnson, of Pennsburg, PA, Robert P. Hurley and his wife, Michele, of Boyertown, PA, Ann M. Furbacher of Pennsburg, PA, Elizabeth A. Heridia and her husband, Michael, of Red Hill, PA, and Patricia A. Frydlewicz and her husband Daniel, of East Greenville, PA. She is also survived by two siblings, Donald Cruickshank and Mary Davis; 21 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.


Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, a private mass followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pennsburg, PA will take place for the immediate family. Arrangements are by R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. of Skippack, PA. Online condolences may be made to the family at
