Elizabeth Clemente

Obituary of Elizabeth Clemente

Born in 1932 in Coatesville PA, Betty attended Coatesville High School where she served on Student Council. While cheering for her alma mater on the visitor’s side of a football game against Bridgeport High School, she met the love of her life. He felt the same way and from that day forward, they were inseparable. Their love for each other was what movies are made about. Their lives were rich with many family members, friends and travels, that were often accompanied by her sister, Dilly, and brother in-law, Charlie.

They lived their first 20 years together in Norristown PA as part of the Norris Hills neighborhood, and Holy Saviour Catholic Church, where she was a leader in the CYO program, chairing various committees and coaching girls basketball. The next 30 plus years were spent in Fairview Village, PA, where they belonged to Visitation B.V.M Church, where Betty volunteered in the rectory and cleaned the church. Her final years were spent enriched by the wonderful friends at Westover Greens in West Norriton, PA.

Betty was all about family and the things that would nurture them, like homemade chicken soup that would cure anything, the best mashed potatoes and gravy that anyone ever ate, and of course homemade spaghetti sauce. She loved her children and never missed her grandchildren's activities. She could be seen Friday nights using her walker around the high school track to watch her great-grandson's football games. She was an avid mahjong player, and loved the casino, white criss-crossed curtains, The Golden Girls, all her dogs named Muffin, chips, and shopping at Boscov's. She is being dearly missed by the Home Shopping Network.

Betty passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2020, after a hard-fought battle. Her mind was strong and her skin as beautiful as always.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tessie and Pete Panaski; her loving husband, Janard “Jerry” Clemente; brother, William "Butch" Panaski; grandson, Janard Andrew Clemente; brothers, Andy Panaski and Mike Panaski; and sisters, Ann Sergovic and Mary Wilkes. She is survived by her cherished sister, Alice Kopanski of West Chester, PA; beloved sister-in-law, Annie Mincarelli of East Norriton, PA; children, Deborah Shanta and Janard Clemente, Jr. (Deborah); grandchildren, Chuck Clemente, Meghan Shanta (Bert Chambers), Colin Shanta (Kathleen Morrison), Brittaney Shanta, and Dylan Shanta (Laura); and great grandchildren, Peter Reilly Agler, and Jael, Jamison, Cadance, Declan, Teagan, and Grayson.
