Obituary of James A. Kovacs
James A. Kovacs , 81, of Lederach, PA, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at home. He and his wife, Kathleen (Heacock) Kovacs, were married for 59 years.
Born June 22, 1939, in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Walter J. Kovacs and Mary (Pennepacker) Kovacs.
Jim graduated from Schwenksville H.S. in 1958, which is where he met his wife, Kathleen. Shortly after graduation, he began a career in the printing industry, which eventually led to him opening a printing shop with his family in Skippack, PA.
Jim was mechanically inclined, able to fix just about anything, and could rebuild engines of all types. He could often be found outdoors working on projects using his John Deere tractor. Jim enjoyed cars, especially driving and maintaining his 1989 Corvette. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his family throughout his life, especially vacations in Avalon, N.J. and the Outer Banks of N.C.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Deborah Kovacs and her husband, Frank Sanchez, of Jacksonville, FL, and Kathleen Leasure, of Lederach, PA; granddaughter Sarah Kovacs; and sisters Eleanor Specht and Elizabeth Warren and her husband, William. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Barron; a son-in-law, Edward Leasure; and two brothers-in-law, Elmer Specht and Robert Barron.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11am on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, PA, where family will receive friends from 10-10:45am. Burial will follow at Schwenksville Cemetery. Due to current restrictions on gatherings, please bring a mask and be prepared to practice social distancing.
