Joan D. (Pursley) Walters, 77, of Eagleville, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2020, at her home. She was the beloved wife of Richard “Rich” Walters to whom she was married for almost 57 years.
Born and raised in Media, Delaware County, PA to George and Mildred (Jennings) Pursley. She married Rich on October 5, 1963, and moved into their new home in Eagleville, PA.
She graduated from Penncrest High School in 1961 and worked briefly in Philadelphia before transferring to offices in King of Prussia. Joan worked at a daycare in Fairview Village and realized her love for working with youngsters of all ages. She began working privately for a family in Audubon and when they became high school graduates she was adopted by a family in Worcester that she loved dearly for the last seventeen years. She had always been a dog lover and had several throughout the years.
Joan is survived by her son Rick and his wife, Jill, and her dearly loved grandson, Brayden, of Quakertown, PA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Hitchner of Trappe, PA; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Lili Walters, of Perkiomenville, PA. She is also survived by nephew Gary Hitchner and his wife, Jennifer, of Eagleville, PA; niece Kathy and her husband, Scott Owen, of San Diego, CA; and niece Cindy and husband, Pascal Zeller, of Wilderswil, Switzerland.
Along with her husband, Rich, she enjoyed Packard club functions and socializing with the other attendees.
