Margaret Mary (Coughlin) Carlson, 83, of Collegeville, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020, at The Landing of Collegeville. She was the wife of the late Richard Albert Carlson.
Born March 1, 1937, in County Cork, Ireland, Margaret was the daughter of Jeremiah and Anne Marie (Harty) Coughlin. A native of Ireland, Margaret moved to the north of England when she was 4 years old with her family. In her early twenties, “Peg” took a trip to New York and met her future husband, Richard. She spent the rest of her life in the United States working and raising a family. Margaret attended The University of Maryland and later received her Bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She worked as a bookkeeper in the King of Prussia area for many years. An avid lover of the outdoors, Margaret enjoyed tennis, golf, camping, gardening, and going for long walks.
She is survived by her children, R. Shaun Carlson and his wife, Lorena, of Collegeville, and Evelyn “Lyn” Evans and her husband, Jeff, of Pottstown; her siblings, Henry Coughlin, Geraldine O’Malley, and Evelyn Quirke, all of the United Kingdom; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Alyssa, and Kara Evans; Christopher and Ethan Carlson.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Jerry, Anne, Patricia, and her partner Robert Roeder.
