“Family, friends and good health are the only things that truly matter in life” and “always serve others” were the motto and life mission of Drew S. McCaskey, 69, of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania who passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 17th, 2020.
Born September 19th, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Drew was the son of Gerald and Bertha (Paul) McCaskey. Personable, intelligent, and prone to humor delivered with a bright smile, he graduated from the Newark College of Engineering (NCE), currently known as the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and was professionally accomplished in civil engineering, management, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurial ventures. After 16 years of service, he retired as Marketing Manager of the Delaware Transit Corporation in Wilmington, DE. Within his community and church congregation, he was dedicated to a life-long commitment to serving others. As a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions Club, Drew was an active member for over three decades and served as chairperson for public relations, promoter of national campaigns, and director of the Lakewood Renaissance Faire. As a congregant of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, he was a devoted participant in faith committees, the Chancel Choir, and donation drives, including the “Gift of Sight to Others” campaign. At home, he cherished walking along the Perkiomen Creek amidst a “mountain vista view,” cultivating a garden of vegetables and flowers, and, on clear nights, setting up his telescope to observe the cosmos with his family.
His spirit and smile will live on through his wife of forty-three years, Lenay McCaskey, sons, Drew Michael & David McCaskey, sister, Noel Kayser, nephew, Colton Kayser, and the countless people with whom he shared his joy of life. In his own words to carry us forward, illuminating our path: “May you greet each day of your life as a gift from God and an opportunity to serve others, especially those in need. I’ll be watching and be with you always.”
