Mildred (Milly) N. Jagel, 93, died May 29, 2020, at Meadowood Senior Living, Lansdale, PA.
Born Dec. 27, 1926, in Hollis, Queens, NY, Milly was the daughter of Florence and James Noble. She had one older sister, Ruth (Noble) Goldner. She grew up in Hollis, Queens, NY, and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She graduated from Ursinus College with a B.A. in 1948 and had an M.A. in history from Hunter College in New York. Milly was a teacher in her early career but hit her professional stride as the owner of an independent bookstore, Trail Tree Books, in Oldwick NJ which she owned from 1982-1995. Milly was married to Kenneth I. Jagel Jr. for 67 years, until his death in 2019. From 1971 until they moved to Meadowood in 2012 they lived in Stanton, NJ, where she was active in the community including Friends of the Hunterdon County Library, Stanton Holly Trail house tour, and Stanton Reformed Church. She had two children, Pamela Jagel McShane (Brian) and Donald Jagel (Jessee Nogradi), three grandchildren, Laura, Brendan, and Katherine McShane, and three great-grandchildren. She was engaged in many social organizations both in her home in Hunterdon County, NJ, and at Meadowood. She was a lover of books, an avid gardener, and a gourmet cook. She had a great sense of style and an eye for beauty. She loved to entertain and was a friend to many people. Funeral services will be private.
