Marie Ott, 79, of Schwenksville, passed peacefully at her home on March 14, 2020. She is survived by her husband, Gabriel Ott, Sr., to whom she was married for over 62 years.
Born June 20, 1940, in Red Hill, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Charlotte Stitler.
Marie Ott, the BEST Nanny! No scraped knee, bruise, bug bite, or illness stood a chance against her. After raising 3 children with her husband Gabriel Ott Sr. they were blessed with 7 imaginative grandchildren. This kept her busy. She’d frequently say, “You kids are a pain in my butt,” however everyone knew she cherished every moment.
Never a day went by without her standing in the kitchen suited with her apron and tea-towel, washing dishes, cooking countless meals and baking dozens of cookies and pies for her family all while listening to KYW 1060 on the radio was her everyday routine. And a “secret stash of chocolate,” of course, was never far to help fuel her days. Between the table and the eyesore of an oven/stove (she hated that thing), you could find her doing paperwork for the family’s business, Gabe Ott and Sons Meng Road Greenhouse.
In later years breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease would dim her unique flare. Nevertheless, her love, care, and nurturing nature will live on in the lives of her dear family and the people she met.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Gabriel Ott, Jr., and his wife, Lois, Robin Pennington and her husband, Jonathan, and John Ott; her sister Carol Bossert; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ott was predeceased by sister Sandra Haas.
A public service and celebration of her life will be held in the late afternoon on Saturday, June 20, 2020. Location TBD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to family Caregivers Network, Inc. 901 Main St. Pennsburg, PA 18073.
