Rev. Karen K. Gallagher, a long-time resident of Lansdale, PA, passed away a day after her 65th birthday on Saturday, March 7, 2020, after a long illness. She and her husband, Montford J. “Monty” Gallagher, would have observed their 38th wedding anniversary on June 5th of this year.
Born March 6, 1955, in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of H. Glenn Kriebel of Lansdale, PA, and the late Mildred (Smith) Kriebel, who passed away in 2016. She was a 1973 graduate of North Penn High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from Slippery Rock University. She then went to work for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. She later graduated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning her Master of Divinity degree.
Rev. Gallagher began her ministry at Central Schwenkfelder Church as a youth pastor in 1985. She later served as Minister of Christian Education and as Associate Minister. She was active with many of the church’s ministries including LAMPS, Ladies Aid, visitations, and most activities within the church. She was also one of the founders of The Easter Story hosted by the church each year at Freddy Hill Farms. Karen was an avid reader and was a woman of strong faith. Her favorite hobbies included music and time at the beach.
In addition to her husband and her father, she is survived by her son, Ryan Gallagher and his wife, Amanda, and their daughter, Kellan, of Norristown, PA; and by her brother, David Kriebel and his wife, Heide Pickens, of Lansdale, PA.
