Obituary of Beverly V. Wilkie
Beverly V. (Duncan) Wilkie, 92, a resident of Cedars, PA, for 70 years, passed away at home on Monday, February 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edwin Wilkie, Sr., on October 31, 2005.
Born August 31, 1927, in Blackrock, CT, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Deleon and Julia (Dondero) Duncan. She held various positions of employment over the years including the lunch counter at Grant’s, in retail dress sales, at the cafeteria at Sikorsky Aircraft, as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, at Philco Ford Tube, as a bus driver and teacher at Plymouth Meeting Friends School, at Cedars Country Store, and at Rosenbluth Travel.
Mrs. Wilkie was a long-time active member of Wentz’s United Church of Christ, where she faithfully served on Women’s Guild. She was a member of the P.T.A. for her children’s schools, and served as an officer for her bowling league. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, knitting, bowling, dancing, and the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. She cherished time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Stacy Ann Morton of Cedars, PA, Richard E. Wilkie, Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Kulpsville, PA, and Heather Leigh Bochnowicz and her husband, Randy, of Collegeville, PA; a brother, Fredrick “Butch” Duncan and his wife, Nancy, of Jefferson, ME; and four grandchildren: Kate and Blaire Wilkie and Kristopher and Melissa Bochnowicz.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Morton; and eight siblings: Dorthy, Jean, Corrine, Lorrane, Arlene, Hepburn, Danny, and Ronald.
Family will receive friends for her viewing from 9:30-10:45am on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Wentz’s U.C.C. Church, 3246 Skippack Pike, Lansdale, PA, where the funeral service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the memorial fund of the church. Funeral arrangements are by the R. L.
