Judith “Judy” (Briggs) Moore, 80, of Hatfield, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Abington-Lansdale-Jefferson Health. She was the beloved wife of John Moore to whom she was married for over 60 years.
Born March 17, 1939, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Judson and Doris(Temple) Briggs. Judy was employed as a food service manager with the North Penn School District for many years.
Judy was known as Mom, Grammy, little league Mom, N.P.H.S. hockey Mom, and bus monitor with her cowbell. Judy was a very organized person making notes for every aspect of preparation for events including menus and activities. She was an amazing cook and baker who was known for her famous iced tea. Judy loved taking photos with her 35 mm camera until the second one died and she could not master a digital camera, our loss! We all treasured the numerous customized picture albums she made, they are a family legacy. Her other hobbies included scrapbooks, decorating, collecting keepsakes, playing cards, writing and sending cards, and notes, especially thank you notes and notes of encouragement. Decorating for events and our home was big for her.
Judy and her husband worked as a team while providing a loving home and raising three boys. Their home has always been a gathering place with Judy being an exceptional hostess and warm caring Mom to many. Judy was an active member of Immanuel Church of The Nazarene, where she was involved in small group meetings and activities, the welcome center, vacation Bible school, counting team, Ladies group, and baking pumpkin bread and helping in the kitchen. She loved helping at church and being part of the church community until her health deteriorated.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, David C. Moore and his wife, Kathy, of Wellsboro, Wayne C. Moore and his wife, Karen, of New Hanover, and Steven C. Moore of New Berlinville; her brothers, Richard T. Briggs, and John W. Briggs; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 2 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Immanuel Church of The Nazarene, 1260 Welsh Rd, Lansdale, PA 19446. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Immanuel Church of The Nazarene Benevolence Fund at the address above or to the North Care Women's Clinic, 311 N Broad St, Lansdale, PA 19446.
