Obituary of Chris Whitman
Chris Whitman, 49, of Skippack passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Paoli Hospital. He was the beloved husband to Jill (Fennell) Whitman to whom he was married for over 25 years.
Born September 18, 1970, in Philadelphia he was a son of the late Mark and Gladys (Costello) Whitman.
Chris was a Certified Professional Soil Scientist. He graduated from the Hun School of Princeton in 1989. He then earned a B.S. in Agronomy and Environmental Science from Del Val College in which he graduated in 1994. He loved his work since it didn’t put him behind a desk every day. During 2013-2015, he was the President of the PAPSS (Pennsylvania Association of Professional Soil Scientists) and from 2011-2013 he was the Secretary.
Chris lived life to the fullest. He loved to take his boat out to Blue Marsh and try to throw his daughters and their friends off the raft. He also loved to fish. Deep-sea fishing with friends and creek fishing with his girls. He started taking them when they were little and said they needed to know how to bait their own hook.
Chris was a self taught guitar player who loved to jam so much he built a “band room” in his basement so he could play with his friends. Chris loved going to concerts and was a huge Led Zeppelin fan.
When Chris met Jill, everyone thought they were complete opposites and they were. They met by accident as both were at a place neither was supposed to be.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Alexandra Whitman and Julianna Whitman of Skippack.
