Obituary of Craig A. Baker
Craig A. Baker, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in East Norriton, PA. A resident of Collegeville, PA, for the last 15 years, he had formerly lived in Chestnut Hill, PA. He and his wife, Carol A. (Keating) Baker, celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on May 7th of last year.
Born September 12, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a 1966 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School. He received his associate degree from Temple University.
Mr. Baker served as a police officer for the Philadelphia Police Department for thirty years prior to retirement. He was a member of Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5.
Craig enjoyed working with his hands and could make and fix anything. In his younger years, he was a volunteer firefighter and volunteered with Big Brothers. He was always willing to lend a hand or help anyone in need. He cherished time with his family and adored his granddaughters, affectionately known as his “Happy Campers.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Craig A. Baker, Jr. of Collegeville, PA, and Todd J. Baker and his wife, Amy, of Sanatoga, PA; and two granddaughters, Alexa Dillon and Abigail Marie.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Eric Baker and Tracy Markoski.
Family will receive friends for his viewing from 5-7pm on Monday, January 13, 2020, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, PA, and from 10-10:45am on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA. The funeral mass will begin at the church on Tuesday at 11am and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 Survivors Fund at www.fop5.org.
