Rose Ellen (Keeley) Harman, 83, of Perkasie, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Gwynedd Healthcare Center in Upper Gwynedd. She was the wife of the late Herbert P. Harman, Sr. who passed away in 1987.
Born March 16, 1936, in Perkiomenville, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Bertha (Burger) Keeley.
Rose, a Certified Nanny helped raise many children from various families from infancy through elementary school-age some through early teen years. Rose continued to work until just a few weeks prior to her passing. A stay at home mom from earlier years she was the go-to mother for many neighborhood children for school snow days which she truly loved. Seeing her living room full of children playing board games or making tents from blankets on those days was pure joy for Rose. She loved joining us in those tents often reading a story or sharing a snack. These days also gave her inspiration to whip up batches of homemade cookies or cinnamon buns for those lucky enough to be sharing the day with her and her children. Besides working as a caregiver for others she was our true “Nanny” to her grandchildren and loved spending special time with her great-grandchildren as much as she could. She cherished any special time she could get with them.
Rose loved having friends or family over for a good meal or a summer picnic enjoying the laughter that filled the air. In addition to a love of cooking and baking, Rose loved gardening and sharing her “famous” homemade pickles, jellies and jams with friends and family. She had a gift for sewing and could be seen sitting at her sewing machine into the late hours making sure every seam of her latest work was perfect. A warm loving woman, Rose, will be missed greatly by family, and friends
She is survived by her children, Herbert P. Harman, Jr. and his wife, Jeanette of Churchville, VA, Kelly (Harman) Bressi and her husband Charles of Mount Carmel, PA, Matthew Harman and his wife, Julie of Hatfield, PA; her sisters, Eileen Bertha (Keeley) Kline , Eleanor (Keeley) Reiner and Linda (Vanderslice) Salamone., her six grandchildren Amanda, Matthew Jr., Olivia, Kelsie, Beth & Danny; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings John Price Burger, Irvin H. Keeley, Jr., Lydia Keeley, James J. Keeley, William Vanderslice, Jr., Gerald Vanderslice, and Lawrence Vanderslice, Sr.
