Obituary of Spence Yoder

Sylvanus U. “Spence” Yoder, 83, a resident of Blue Bell, PA, since 1992, passed away Thursday night, October 24, 2019, at home with his family close by. He was the husband of the late Audrey M. (Anderson) Boehning Yoder, who passed away on June 9th of this year.


Born November 28, 1935, in Big Valley, PA, he was one of 14 children born to the late Jesse L. and Fannie B. (Sharp) Yoder.


Mr. Yoder was an automobile mechanic for many years, most recently with Bergey’s in Lansdale, PA prior to retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Blue Bell, PA. His hobbies included hunting, driving, crossword puzzles, television game shows and old western movies. He loved country music.


Surviving are three children, Deborah J. DiMino and her husband, William, of East Norriton, PA, David C. Yoder of Trooper, PA, and Darlene M. Henry and her husband, Michael, of Fleetwood, PA; three stepchildren, Robin L. Boehning of North Wales, PA, Thomas W. Boehning and his wife, Christina, A., of Glastonbury, CT, and Darren F. Boehning and his wife, Madeline P., of Cherry Hill, NJ; ten grandchildren, and ten siblings.


In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Yoder, and three siblings.


Friends are invited to his viewing from 6-8pm on Tuesday evening, October 29, 2019, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike @ Cedars Rd., Skippack, PA, and to his funeral service at 10am on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1802 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
