Obituary of Calvin R. Jennings, Jr.
Calvin R. Jennings, Jr., 82, passed away at home on Sunday, September 22, 2019. He and his wife, Dorothea M. (Friday) Jennings, observed their 61st wedding anniversary on June 21st of this year. Formerly of Norristown, PA, he resided in Worcester, PA, for 54 years.
Born September 26, 1936, in Trenton, NJ, he was a son of the late Mary F. (Ramsey) Jennings and the late Calvin R. Jennings, Sr. He was a 1954 graduate of Norristown High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pennsylvania Military College in 1958. He served in the United States Army Reserve.
Mr. Jennings was employed as a credit manager for many years and had been employed by The Sara Lee Corporation and American Olean Tile Company. He was a member of Norristown Lodge #620 F. & A.M. and was a 32nd degree mason with Lehigh Consistory. He was also a member, past president and state secretary of the High Twelve Club, and a past president of the Norristown Lions Club. He was a past member of the Lulu Shriners and had been very active in the local scouting troops. He enjoyed travel and cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pamela A. Kelly and her husband, Kevin, of Worcester, PA; a son, Calvin R. Jennings, III, and his wife, Laura, of West Bloomfield, MI; a sister, Judy Jennings of Phoenixville, PA; and a brother, Robert Jennings of Norristown, PA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ryan and Liam Kelly, and Dillon and MaKayla Jennings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 11am on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, PA, where family will receive friends from 10-10:45am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at sidneykimmelcancercenter.jeffersonhealth.org/giving.html.
