Beverly Ann (Bourbeau) Nelson, 91, passed away at home in Worcester Township, PA, on August 28, 2019. She was the wife of the late John R. “Jack” Nelson, who passed away in 2013. They were married for over 60 years at the time of his passing.
Born October 17, 1927, in Springfield, MA, she was a daughter of the late Robert P. and Gertrude G. “Gladys” (Robbins) Bourbeau. She was a 1945 graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield, MA.
Beverly was a uniquely talented and creative person. She was an accomplished artist who’s artwork continues to be appreciated and admired by all who view it. Bev was also a talented singer who in her early years delighted the audiences with performances on the Ted Mack Television Show and Radio Show. However, Bev enjoyed most of all singing harmony with her siblings and her children.
Bev’s creativity flowed through every challenge and commitment she took on. She and her husband Jack hosted the Discovery Bible Study in their home. This led to the formation of Cornerstone Church of Skippack, PA, of which they were founding members. She devoted many years to the church’s audio recording ministry and to the Church’s Missions Board.
Bev had a quick wit and humor that made for a positive outlook on life, but it was her faith in Christ that led her to be generous to those in need, and to see the good in every person she met. At the heart of Bev’s life was her devotion to her family. She and Jack invested their time and energy into raising a family that would reflect the faith and values that they shared. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her but her legacy of love will continue on.
Surviving are four children, Cindy Freeman of Telford, PA, Rick Nelson and his wife, Lisa, David Nelson and his wife, Joni, and Laurie Nelson, all of Worcester, PA; 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Shirley M. Forest of Yardley, PA; and a brother, Robert “Bob” Bourbeau and his wife, Alice, of Lake Mary, FL.
Family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, PA. There will be a private burial service on Wednesday morning at the Garden of Memories behind the Central Schwenkfelder Church in Worcester, PA.
