Francis A. Novia, 87, formerly of Skippack, PA, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at home in Collegeville, PA. He was the husband of the late Colleen (Esdale) Novia who passed away in 2015.
Born October 26, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Guerino and Anna (Corso) Novia. He was a U. S. Army veteran and earned his master’s degree from Temple University.
Mr. Novia was a school teacher in Philadelphia for many years and his summers were spent bartending in Cape May, NJ and Wildwood, NJ. He retired as athletic director at Benjamin Franklin High School.
Mr. Novia was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed traveling and was a Philadelphia sports teams enthusiast.
Surviving is a daughter, Heather Colleen Stenson and her children, Joseph Phillip Francis Stenson and Tenley Colleen Stenson, of Collegeville, PA; and a son, Todd Reilly and his wife, Krissy, and their children, Susie, Rachael and Rocco, of Holland, PA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Anita Novia, Vivian Miller and her husband Glenn, Marc Novia and his wife, Donna, and Jan Novia and his wife, Carolyn; as well as great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, J. D. Anderson; a grandson, T. J. Reilly; a sister, Adelaide Novia; and a brother, Benjamin Novia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 am on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, PA, where friends may call for the viewing beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Blue Bell, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation of America at www.wish.org.
