Obituary of Howard A. Jones

Howard A. Jones, 76, of Audubon, PA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in East Norriton Township, PA, following heart complications. He and his wife, Barbara (Evans) Jones, would have observed their 54th wedding anniversary on November 20th of this year.

Born November 15, 1942, in Temple, TX, he was a son of the late Howard Burke Jones and Cordelia (Englekraut) Jones, and received his BS in Secondary Education from Temple University. He was also a three year U. S. Army veteran serving in Germany. Howard went on to work at Girard Bank, Certainteed Corporation and Westmoreland Coal Company where he served as Director of Information Services for several years. His varied experience led him to serve as a consultant for Mincom and EDS.

When Howard wasn’t attending one of his grandchildren’s many sporting events and activities, he was very involved in his community. He served on the Methacton School Board for 13 years and as Judge of Elections in Lower Providence for the past five years. More recently, he was a charter member of the Collegeville Area Chapter of Kiwanis International and regularly volunteered at the Daily Food Pantry.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Brad Jones and his wife, Claire, and Heather Mellow and her husband, Ryan; and siblings Patsy Hammitt, Brad Jones, Bonnie DeVito and Barbara Friling. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Haley, Maxwell and Evan Jones, and Summer and Brody Mellow; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 12 pm on Friday, July 12, 2019, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd., Skippack, PA, where family will receive friends from 10-11:45 am. Interment will be private.
