Donald Hunsberger, 88, of Upper Frederick, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at Frederick Senior Living. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Landes) Hunsberger to whom he was married for over 58 years.
Born January 25, 1931, in East Norriton he was one of twelve children born to the late William and Susie (Grater) Hunsberger.
Mr. Hunsberger worked for Superior Tube for over 45years during which he held many different positions. If someone didn’t know how to perform a specific job “Give it to Hunsberger !” was the fix. After retirement from Superior tube, he was employed as a school bus aide.
He was an active member of Graterford Bible Fellowship Church. Over his many years of attendance, he served as an elder, usher, assisted in Sunday School and Boys and Girls club. He held the position of custodian for many years at his church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and spent many hours reading his Bible and in prayer for his children and grandchildren.
He volunteered in the memory care unit of Frederick Senior Living during various activities. He transported wheelchair-bound residents to activities. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a volunteer at the Evansburg Youth Club. He enjoyed and insisted on walking the Perkiomen Trail, no matter what the weather. He enjoyed gardening, was a hard worker in all that he did and had a great sense of humor.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Carol Smith and her husband, Gregory of North Coventry, Philip Hunsberger and his wife, Dorothy, of Stowe, Amy Adams and her husband, Richard, of Spring Mount; his sister Evelyn Kramer; his grandchildren Tory, Tyler, Tara, Tammi, Nicholas, Jacob, Renee, Lillian, Joshua, and Cady; and his two great-grandchildren Evelyn and Jaxon.
He was predeceased by his siblings Wilmer, Hazel, Ethel, Laura, Claude, Thelma, William, Herman, Viola, and Arthur.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Donald's Celebration of Life Memorial Serve at 11 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Graterford Bible Fellowship Church, 693 Church Rd, Collegeville, PA 19426.
