Jean A. (Detwiler) Black, 93, of Skippack passed away at her residence Monday, February 25, 2019, in Skippack Pa. She was the dedicated wife of the late Edgar K. Black, who passed away in 2005.
Born August 28, 1925, in Lower Providence Twp. she was a daughter of the late William and Bessie (Hagner) Detwiler. She was a graduate of Collegeville - Trappe High School and was a graduate of the Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1946.
Jean was a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Skippack, Pa. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jean was a great caregiver to her husband, father, neighbor, and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and was always up for a good game of Rummy. She played an active role in her family’s cattle business for many years. Jean was a registered nurse at Phoenixville hospital prior to being a dedicated homemaker.
She is survived by her children John E. Black and his wife, Anita, of Green Lane, Donna G. Horn and her husband, Craig, of Barto, Donald R. Black and his wife, Peggy, of Skippack; eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Ruth Beideman, Betty Shellenberger, William H. Detwiler, and her grandson Alex Black.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held at the family farm on Monday, March 4, 2019, at 1 PM. Interment will be private for the family. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.RLWilliamsFuneralHome.com
