Obituary of D. Alan Rothenberger

D. Alan Rothenberger, 72, of North Wales, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Lois (Sharp) Rothenberger.

Born October 21, 1946, in Lansdale, he was a son of the late Alvin and Helen (Rightler) Rothenberger.

Alan graduated from Methacton High School and Syracuse University. Following his education, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War. He spent his entire career working with his father and brother as a cabinetmaker at Alvin K. Rothenberger, Inc. in Worcester. Alan loved the outdoors. He was a sailor, fly fisherman, hiker and bird watcher. He and Lois enjoyed time with friends and family at their cabin on Pine Creek in central PA. Alan was also an avid traveler with many trips out West and to Europe.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Rothenberger) Schiffmacher and her husband, Karl, of Goshen, NY; his stepdaughters, Elise Washington of Telford, and Kendra McGonagle and her husband, Patrick of North Wales; his brother Kim A. Rothenberger and his wife Barbara; and three grandchildren Hailey Washington, Grover Washington, IV, and Tyler McGonagle.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Alan Rothenberger from 1:30-3: 30 pm on Saturday, April 20th at The Pennridge Community (Senior) Center located at 146 E. Main Street, Perkasie, PA 18944. The community center is situated in the little town of Silverdale but in typical PA fashion, the address is Perkasie. Parking is limited so we encourage carpooling to avoid overflow and to be environmentally friendly. We want to recognize and celebrate the kind, humorous, loving man we all knew and who continues to live in our hearts and through our memories. Please dress casually and everyone, including children, is encouraged to attend.

We are going to provide some light refreshments that will consist of Alan’s favorite snack foods. You can imagine that salty treats and sweet treats will both be offered!

Amanda is creating a video with photos of her Dad. She encourages you to send your favorites to her at amanda.schiffmacher@gmail.com.

We hope to see you there to share a laugh or shed a tear. With love, Lois and family
