Minerva “Sonni” (Bilella) Salkowski, 80, of Harleysville, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 11, 2018. She was the wife of the late John E. Salkowski.
Born October 6, 1938, in Norristown she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Calamia) Bilella.
Mrs. Salkowski was self-employed for many years owning “Sonni’s Nail Salon” in Bridgeport, PA. After retiring from nails, she worked for the Cecil Whig Newspaper in Elkton, MD writing the obituaries and a senior column. Sonni enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, bible study, playing games and playing the accordion.
She is survived by her children Cathleen Albanese, of Harleysville, Thomas A. DeCarme (Joelle) of Souderton, Leslie A. Patkos (Les, Jr.) of Harleysville, Jacqueline Preston (Joseph), of Zieglerville, David G. DeCarme of Harleysville; her brother James A. Bilella (Grace), of Lederach; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd. Skippack, where the family will receive friends from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to American Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
