Obituary of Nancy Kraft

Nancy M. (Cona) Kraft, 83, of Lansdale, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Dock Woods Community. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Kraft to whom she has been married for over 60 years.

Born October 27, 1934, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (DiGrazio) Cona.

Nancy Kraft was born and raised in South Philadelphia and was the oldest of three children. After graduating from Hallahan High School for Girls in 1952, she worked as a secretary before meeting
and marrying her beloved husband, Joseph Kraft, in 1957. They settled in Drexel Hill where she was a homemaker, raising five of their six children. A move to Rose Tree in 1968 afforded them a larger home as they welcomed their youngest child in 1972. Nancy was a long time parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Parish in Rose Tree and could always be found volunteering at the grade school where all six of her children attended. She was a perfect reflection of the Catholic Faith as she nurtured her children guided by the teachings of Christ.

Nancy was the heart and soul of her family and enjoyed every aspect of being a wife, mother, and
grandmother. She loved having family holidays and barbecues by the pool...always the most gracious host. Her happiest moments found her feeding everyone, whether it be making school lunches, cooking countless pancakes on a Saturday morning, or whipping up some of her famous meatballs and gravy.

She loved her 13 grandchildren and especially enjoyed her time with them at her beloved summer home in Stone Harbor, N.J., where she and Joe spent most of their summers for the better part of 23 years. Her children and grandchildren could always count on cabinets full of goodies and gallons of ice cream on hot summer days. She cooked countless numbers of crabs that were caught by her family, and always managed to allow one to escape the pot, to the delight and screams of everyone in the room.

Nancy was an avid bowler and participated in a bowling league at Sproul Lanes in Springfield for over 20 years. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. With six children and a house to run, Nancy became quite the shopper and was extremely proficient at finding the very best sales. The family nicknamed her "Bargain Betty" as she was always so proud of the great buys she would find.

Above all, Nancy's greatest legacy was her enduring and unwavering love for her husband, Joe. They have enjoyed many adventures together throughout the United States and Europe, and especially loved all of their Golden Circle trips with IBM. They have been married for over 60 years and their example of Love and Faith has most certainly shaped the lives of their children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Karen (Bob) Law, of Lansdale, Joe (Carolyn) Kraft, Jr.  of Phoenixville, Chuck (Santa) Kraft, of Glen Mills, Lynne (Don) DeBrakeleer, of Lansdale, Chris (Randy) Bahr, of Blue Bell, Karl (Adam) Kraft of Devon; her siblings, Frank Cona, and Anna Rose Cusick; and her grandchildren, Carolyn, Bob, Jennifer, C.J., Christian, Jackie, D.J., Daniel, Dylan, Matthew, Kristen, Jacob, and Hannah; and her great-grandchild, Emilia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 11 AM on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at St. Helena Catholic Church, 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422, where friends may call for the viewing from 9-10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
