Patricia “Pat” Mathews, 75, of Lansdale, PA, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, in Wildwood, NJ. Born in Kingston, PA, on September 12, 1942, she lived in Harleysville before moving to Lansdale. Pat attended West Side Central Catholic High School and the Wyoming Valley School of Nursing.
Pat worked as a Nurse Supervisor for Merck & Company until her retirement in 1998. She had a passion for cooking and for traveling and spent her retirement enjoying her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She traveled extensively with her husband and loved spending time at the beach, both alone and with her family. She also enjoyed attending the theater in New Hope with a very close group of friends.
Everyone who knew her loved her. Pat was an extremely generous person who would do anything for anyone. She was supportive of people in her life and became friends with those she met. She spent her life, both personally and professionally, helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Neilson Mathews III, three sons, Michael of Lansdale, David and his wife Michelle of Elizabethtown, John and his wife Terri of Harrisburg, four grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, a sister, Joan Turel, of Edwardsville, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Anna (Kornova) and John Turel, and her first husband Imants “Sam” Pelna.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, June 6 at R.L. Williams Jr Funeral Home Inc. Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd.Skippack, PA. A 10:00 AM visitation will be followed by an 11:00 AM service. Interment will be private at a later date.
