Bernice (Cecere) Colello, 90, passed away May 8, 2018 at Normandy Farms Estates where she had lived for the last 20 years.
Bernice was born June 10, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas J. Cecere, Sr. and Amelia (Sacco) Cecere. She graduated from the South Philadelphia High School for Girls. She worked as a civil servant with the Office of Price Administration and the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia.
Bernice was affectionately known as the “Bingo Lady” because of her colorful banter while calling Bingo during evening activities at Normandy. She loved South Philadelphia and was a Phillies and Eagles fan. She watched every Phillies game during their championship season and glowed with pride for weeks after her Eagles won the Superbowl! She also loved reading, needlework, old movies and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her two daughters: Elaine Nearing and her husband Steve of Eagleville; and Caroline Deininger and her husband Jon of Collegeville; and three granddaughters, Kristen (Deininger), Megan (Nearing) and Laura (Deininger).
Bernice was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas J. Cecere, Jr. who also lived at Normandy Farms Estates.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing 5:00-6:00 PM on Thursday, May 17th and again 9:00-10:00AM on Friday, May 18th at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd., Skippack, PA. A prayer service will follow at 10AM on Friday. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
