James Robert “Bob” de Vitry, 68, passed away at home in Royersford, PA on Tuesday evening, November 23, 2021. He and his wife, Gere Julia (Gisbert) de Vitry, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 17th of this year. They had formerly resided in Bettendorf, IA, Lebanon, PA, and Montrose, CO.
Born December 29, 1952, in Bainbridge, PA, he was a son of the late Jean Renaud de Vitry, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne (Hankins) de Vitry. He was a graduate of Belleville Henderson High School in Adams, NY and Salem School of the Bible in Brooklyn, NY. Bob served as pastor at Calvary Church in Lebanon, PA and at Countryside Community Church in Olathe, CO. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum as an IT Systems/Business analyst.
Bob attended church at Cornerstone Church of Skippack, PA. He was a skilled musician who played the guitar, bass and piano. He enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible. He cherished time with his family and liked vacationing at the beach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. Dorsey and her husband, Jonathan A. Dorsey, of Avon, IN and Rebekah P. Fries and her husband, Aaron K. Fries, of Royersford, PA; a son, Sean A. de Vitry and his wife, Anna P. Claussen de Vitry, of Madison, WI; and five grandchildren: Kiera, Jacob and Evangeline Dorsey, and Eleanor and Leighton Fries. He is also survived by a sister, Sheila (de Vitry) Stephanis; and six brothers, Jean Renaud Jr., Christopher R., Malachi F., Pierre, and James H. de Vitry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alan M. de Vitry.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 10 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, PA, where family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30am. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution be made in his name to a charity that Bob was passionate about, Practical Compassion, at Donate - Practical Compassion.
