Robert H. Raquet, Sr.

Robert Raquet, Sr. 83, of Brittany Pointe Estates, formerly of Worcester, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Steele) Raquet to whom he was married for over 61 years.

Born July 12, 1937, in Norristown he was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (McTamney) Raquet. Mr. Raquet was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Temple University and served his country in the United States Army Reserve.

Mr. Raquet was a long-time member of Visitation B.V.M. Catholic Church in Trooper and was employed with Decision Data Corporation, Robec, and I.C.L., from where he retired in 1993. A skilled woodworker, Mr. Raquet enjoyed building things for his home as well as for his children and grandchildren. In recent years, he treasured spending time with his family and old and new friends and playing bocce. He loved to talk business with his children and grandchildren and had many stories to share from his successful career as an executive in the computer industry. Known as “Pop” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they all tell stories of being drafted to clean up his woodshop and then loaded into his truck to be treated to lunch. It was universally known that Pop used the grandchildren as an excuse to eat at his favorite restaurants.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Raquet, Jr. and his wife, Wendy, of Worcester; Richard Raquet and his wife, Marie, of Worcester; Mark Raquet and his wife Jennifer, of Worcester; and Beth Reiniger and her husband, Steven, of Collegeville. He is also survived by his brother Edward Raquet; his grandchildren, Ryan, Joseph, Tori, Janel, Jillian, Brandon, Andrew, James, Lauren, Rachel, and David; and great-grandchildren, Jerrett and Gabriel.

Mr. Raquet was predeceased by his brothers, Harry, Jack, Frank, William, and Albert, and his sister Helen Walsh.

Bob truly cherished the family he and Janet built as well as his siblings, his brothers and sisters-in-law, and his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the company of friends he had known since his youth as well as all the new friends he met at the Meadows and Brittany Pointe. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and he will be deeply missed.
