Richard Austin Fees, Sr., 85, of Ardsley, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health in Abington. He was the beloved husband of Lilyan (Scherer) Fees to whom he was married for over 63 years.
Born July 12, 1932, in Philadelphia, he was a son of Charles Hans Fees and Frances (Schultz) Fees.
Mr. Fees served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed for over 45 years as a designer for Quaker Lace Company in Philadelphia, PA where he holds over 100 patents of lace patterns. Richard was a long time Phillies Fan, enjoying spending time in Clearwater, Florida at spring training. He was also an Eagles fan and was thrilled to see the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Richard was a fiercely loyal American who took great pride in his country and was known for hosting the 4th of July family picnics at his home in Ardsley, PA for many years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Richard A. Fees, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Willow Grove, Ruth A. Raisner and her husband, Gary of Upper Salford, Regina Fees and Deneen Walton of Honey Brook; his grandchildren Kimberly Meyer, and Katie Reid; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Fees was predeceased by his brother Charles Fees.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 11:00 AM on February 24, 2018, at R.L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd. Skippack, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial was private for the family at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn.
