Josephine Rose Salvo

Josephine Rose Salvo, 83, a lifelong Norristown resident passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, December 24, 2017.

Josephine was born on January 24, 1934, in Norristown, she was a daughter of Francis and Stephano Lisinicchia. Josephine grew up on 713 Violet Street in Norristown with sisters Mary, Nancy, Anne. Her brother Joseph passed away before her birth. Josephine attended middle school at Rittenhouse and later Norristown High School. She worked at Lit Brothers department store for several years. 

Her husband Paul, who she married in 1951, preceded her in death. Together, they had a son, Paul, and a daughter, Linda. In their 56 years of loving marriage, they enjoyed spending time with family, vacationing at the shore, and taking occasional trips to the casino. Throughout her life, Josephine loved to garden, cook, and watch classic movies. After Paul’s death in 2007, Josephine found comfort in family, painting, music, and Dancing with the Stars. She loved to do the jumble and crossword each day.  Even in later years, Josephine remained a whiz at film and television trivia. She will perhaps best be remembered for her sharp wit and her fierce love for her family.

Josephine is survived by her sister Mary Volpicelli, her daughter Linda, and her son Paul. She also leaves behind many loved ones who cared for her deeply, including two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren, Sammy and Marina, were the lights of her life, and brought her joy almost every day. Josephine was a true matriarch. She protected, cared for, and watched over her family as it grew from generation to generation. She will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 10 AM on January 2, 2017, at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Jr. Skippack Pike at Cedars Rd.
